Company Production Equipment & Process Introduction
Our company specializes in manufacturing hollow drill steel and drill rods, with a vertically integrated production chain. We source centrifugal – cast hollow ingot raw materials for the casting – pipe process from Hunan Iron & Steel, and independently handle drilling, rolling (for the drilling process), and drill rod manufacturing. Below is a breakdown of our core processes and equipment strengths:
- Raw Material: High – quality alloy – lined hollow ingots are procured from Hunan Iron & Steel.
- Production Flow: Smelting → Centrifugal casting of alloy – lined hollow ingots → Ingot cleaning → Loading into a high – manganese mandrel → Rough rolling on a φ400 mill → Finish rolling on a φ250 mill → Mandrel extraction → Straightening and precision finishing → Warehouse storage.
- Equipment Advantages: The φ400/φ250 rolling mills enable precise control of wall thickness and outer diameter, ensuring the hollow steel has high strength and fatigue resistance. The entire process, from the high – quality raw materials to the controlled rolling, lays a solid foundation for subsequent drill rod production.
- Large Billets (400×300/300×260): Scrap sorting → Melting in an EBT arc furnace → Refining in an LF ladle furnace → Vacuum degassing in a VD furnace → Continuous casting of large billets → Straightening → Mechanical drilling → Loading into a high – manganese mandrel → Rolling on a φ650 semi – continuous mill → Mandrel extraction → Finishing.
- Small Billets (150×150): Scrap sorting → Melting in a electric furnace → Refining in an LF ladle furnace → Vacuum degassing in a VD furnace → Continuous casting of small billets → Straightening → Mechanical drilling → Loading into a high – manganese mandrel → Rolling on a φ500 semi – continuous mill → Mandrel extraction → Finishing.
- Equipment Advantages: The EBT/LF/VD system ensures ultra – pure molten steel, reducing impurities.
- Precision drilling machines and semi – continuous mills allow for accurate control of the inner hole and outer diameter, meeting the strict dimensional requirements for high – power rock drilling tools.
- We independently complete drilling and rolling, which means we have full control over the production process and can ensure consistent quality.
Our drill rod production process uses specialized equipment at each step to enhance performance:
- Cutting & Straightening: Precision length – cutting machines and dual straightening stations ensure that the blanks have accurate dimensions and no deformation.
- Hole Expanding & Chamfering: Tail – end expanding and chamfering equipment shapes the rod ends, preparing them for seamless connection with drill bits.
- Forging: Forging machines form the drill shoulder and shank, improving the structural strength of the rod.
- Machining: Lathes and grinders create precise cone surfaces, guaranteeing a perfect fit with drill bits.
- Heat Treatment: Customized heat – treatment lines optimize the toughness and wear resistance of the rod body.
- Surface Treatment: Shot – blasting and anti – corrosion coating equipment increase surface hardness and rust resistance, extending the service life of the drill rods.
- Raw Material Advantage: By collaborating with Hunan Iron & Steel for the casting – pipe process raw materials, we secure a stable supply of high – quality base materials.
- Vertical Integration: From melting and rolling to drilling and drill rod manufacturing, we control every step, ensuring traceability and quality.
- Equipment Precision: Advanced mills, drilling machines, forging equipment, and heat – treatment lines work together to produce drill rods with high strength, precise dimensions, and long service life, making them ideal for harsh rock – drilling environments.
testing equipment
Optical Emission Spectrometers (OES) are employed to precisely detect and quantify critical alloying elements like Si, Mn, and Mo. This strict control over the chemical makeup ensures that the 55SiMnMo steel achieves the ideal balance of strength, toughness, and fatigue resistance, which is fundamental for its application in drill rods.
- Tensile Performance: Universal testing machines accurately measure yield strength, tensile strength, and elongation. These tests reveal how the material responds to tensile forces, guaranteeing that it can withstand the intense stresses encountered during rock – drilling operations.
- Hardness Evaluation: Using Rockwell and Brinell hardness testers, we check the uniformity of hardness both on the surface and at the core of the steel. This is essential for maintaining consistent wear resistance and structural integrity.
Our specialized fatigue testing machines simulate the cyclic loading conditions that drill rods face in actual use. By subjecting the products to repeated stress cycles, we can predict their service life and durability. This is of utmost importance for ensuring reliable performance in high – frequency rock – drilling scenarios.
From the inspection of incoming raw materials to the final verification of finished products, our integrated testing system enforces strict quality control. The combination of high – precision instruments and standardized testing procedures ensures that our hollow drill steel and drill rods meet the stringent performance requirements of the industry, providing customers with dependable and long – lasting products.
